Using plant stands, whereby you can place multiple pot plants on one stand, is a great way to show off either your indoor or outdoor plants. There are many different styles of stands available ranging from single ones to those than can house six or more pot plants. Some indoor plant stands even double as a piece of furniture, with the plant set on top and a cabinet section underneath. These particular types of stands are great for storing magazines, books or even DVDs.
Outdoor plant stands are often made from metal whereas an indoor one can be made from metal, bamboo, wood or almost any other material. Typically, a hanging plant stand is often produced from a hard grade, yet relatively light weight plastic which will not break into pieces in the event that it falls down. For the same reason, you may want to plant your indoor hanging plants in plastic pot plants.
A very common type of outdoor stand is the wrought iron plant stand. This stands up well to outdoor conditions as it is not vulnerable to poor weather nor does it become damaged by spending too much time in the sun, though it can sometimes heat up to the point that it burns if left in too hot sunlight! Any type of stands made from metal that are used outdoors must be coated with a substance to render them weather resistant, otherwise they will rust and look unsightly after a very short time.
Any type of plant stand, whether indoor or outdoor, should add to the overall décor of the area it is situated in and should also be serviceable and useful. You do need to be careful with wood stands, however, as water may run out of the pot, overflow onto the tray and from there flow onto the wood. If this happens, remove the pot right away and set it aside somewhere to dry out. Be sure to wipe off the wood right away as well if you want to keep it in good condition.
